Sunday Afternoon Movie

Hello all! I have a proposition for y'all. How about we go see the new Harry Potter movie this coming Sunday (August 2nd) at 12:20pm at Thornton Place Cinemas, next to Northgate Mall? It's 3D IMAX! Woohoo!
If you're interested, let me know by Thursday so I can preorder tickets. Tickets will cost $8.50. (Yay for Matinee!) And we should go grab a bite to eat after, say Red Robin, CA Pizza Kitchen, Applebee's, or something else. I'm not too much of a Harry Potter know-it-all, so I might need some help understanding the movie...and how the lessons in this work of fiction can be applied to my life too.
So yeah, Harry Potter 6. 3D IMAX. Thornton Place at Northgate. 12:20pm. August 2nd. Food after. Meet there or carpool; let me know.
Peace and cool breezes,
Kendall

Future Story

"Once upon a time...

It was a warm July day, not too hot, but warm enough that you needed something to cool you down. I know of very few things more cooling and refreshing on such a day as a large block of ice to sit on. Not only did I sit on this block of ice, I rode it down a grassy hill. At great speeds. I'll admit, slipping off and tumbling down the hill was . . . interesting (and I have the grass stains to prove it!), Ice Blocking is a tremendously fun time.

I'm glad I went to Ice Blocking on July 16, 2009."

That's going to be my story on Friday the 17th. I'm going to remember all the fun I had that day, meeting and hanging out with new, cool, amazing middle and high school youth and their friends.

Good times. Let's make it happen.

Email Kendall for more info.

Peace.

Amazing Grace Movie Night This Thursday @ LCPC

Movie Night at Lake City Presbyterian Church
Featuring "Amazing Grace"
Thursday July 9th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

Come watch "Amazing Grace" coupled with a discussion exploring the thematic and spiritual parallels found in the movie. Invite your friends, bring your family!

"Amazing Grace" is a 2006 film directed by Michael Apted about the campaign against the slave trade in 18th century Britain, led by famous antislavery pioneer William Wilberforce. Wilberforce was a Member of Parliament who dedicated his life to a very unpopular and unprofitable aim - the abolishment of the slave trade in the British Empire.

For more information about this even contact Keith or Nicole Babinec.

See you on Thursday!

New! Summer Faith Formation Associate. Welcome Kendall Jeske to LCPC

Hello LCPC friends,

A few of you have heard the news, some of you knew we were in this process and for others it may be first time news - we are bringing on someone to help out for children & youth ministry this summer at Lake City Presbyterian Church.

This "new guy's" name is Kendall Jeske and his title is "Summer Faith Formation Associate". His role will be working with the middle/high school youth and co-directing Vacation Bible School, in addition he'll be helping out with & learning what it means to work in children, youth, & family ministry in a congregation. This summer position is paid and approx. 15-20 hrs/wk and he is joining us for July 1st through August 31st. I am really excited to have him come on board and think you'll like him a lot

So he starts in the office on Wednesday this week (tomorrow!) and I'm hoping we'll have a chance for people to start meeting him on the 5th - more info on that later. If you get a call or an email from Kendall for Lake City Pres - He is perfectly legit so please don't hang up on or black list him in your inbox. (Thanks!)

Here is a message from Kendall to you, help me to welcome him!

Hello! My name is Kendall Jeske and I am graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and soon to be a seminary student, beginning this fall. I am very excited to have the chance to work with LCPC while being the Faith Formation Associate this summer. I'm especially excited to meet the youth and their families and to see what kinds of things I can learn in doing so. The past few summers I've spent at a Bible Camp in Idaho and a youth outreach center in Edmonds, WA. While I am a part of the LCP community this summer, please feel free to ask me questions, tell me jokes, and share your faith stories with me. One thing I ask of you, however, is to pray for me, for Leena, and for the youth and families of LCP and the surrounding community. I am excited to meet you, and to see what God has in store for us this summer. Peace be with you all! -Kendall Jeske

Help welcome Kendall into our congregation and please keep in your prayers for the next nine weeks!

Peace in Jesus,

~Leena Prindle

Happy Father's Day!

A Prayer for fathers, grandfather's and fathers-soon-to-be (including the adopted ones!) -

A Special Prayer for Father
God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.
Amen

A few Googled poem's to honor dads everywhere on Father's Day!

What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

Fathers young, fathers old
Remembering good times are our gold.

Value earned through guidance given
Helping us go forth in living'.

Each father adding to our trove
A treasure chest of love untold.

Remembering father in our lives
Taking time to realize.

Fatherly love brings wealth to living
Remembering this we go forth in giving.

Fathers young, fathers old
We remember you all
As life unfolds.
